I have a cisco router and want to save the IOS into my TFTP using ”copy run TFTP” but?

the TFTP server is downloaded in my laptop….how can I connect my laptop to the router so the router can save it in the TFTP server in my laptop….where the crossover cable is connected at the back of the router ”ethernet 0/0, aux or the serial port? please how can i do all this ….I connected the crossover cable to both ethenet 0/0 and aux but does not detect the server to save the configuartion

you need to configure the ethernet 0/0 interface with an IP address/mask on the same subnet as your laptop’s ethernet port. Let’s say your laptop’s IP address was 192.168.1.1. On the router you would do the following:
1. Go to enable mode.
2. “config t”
3. “int e0/0″ or “int fa0/0″ (whichever one works)
4. “ip addr 192.168.1.222 255.255.255.0 (or pick another unused IP address on your subnet)
5. Ctrl-Z
6. “copy run tftp…”
