Can you make sense of the theory of people being attracted to those who look like them?

We’re talking about only physically attractive here.

And I mean, being female and straight, I should find males attractive that have facial features parallel to mine.

In example, I cannot deny that Brad Pitt is good looking, but ultimately I’m not that attracted to him. The guy I’ve found most physically attractive ever has similar facial features to myself.

I’m wondering there is really anything behind theory or no?

Yes, there is something behind the theory. If you think about it, you will realize why. It has to do with ethnic and clan familiarity. Since for thousands of years most people lived and were raised within relatively small geographic areas, their ancestors tended to be attracted to and marry people in the same restricted area. Because the gene pool in those areas tended to become more and more homogeneous over the centuries due to the intermarrying of people whose ancestors derived from the same regional population group, they naturally began to tend toward being attracted to those with like genetic and physical characteristics as themselves, because, for the most part, those were the types available to them. However, with the advance of civilization, the continually growing intermingling of different population groups and more efficient means of transportation, this dynamic has begun to change. Today, it isn’t at all unusual to see intermarrying of people from extremely diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
