I am trying to install a toshiba mk3018GAS HDD2169 IDE PCB board to the old hard drive.?

After replacing the board, I boot my machine up and after the bios boot I receive a text that states “HDD PASSWORD=”. I called the vendor and he said I need to switch out some chip from the old board to the new board. I have no idea what he is talking about. The jumpers are set correctly.

In the days of old there was a daughter board which was a smaller circuit board connected to the motherboard in order to connect additional devices or gain additional functionality. This is the only thing that I can think of that relates to a PCB board other than a motherboard itself. However, that would still have nothing to do with a password being set on a hard drive. What it sounds like is that somehow through the BIOS that a password was set to prevent unauthorized access to the hard drive. If this is the case, somehow you will need to format it and partition it. The only “chip” that I can think of that would have anything to do with this is wherever your BIOS was stored on the previous computer. In the old days it was a ROM chip where the BIOS was stored. Now days it’s usually the CMOS (looks like a watch battery) where the BIOS settings are stored. Hopefully I have provided enough insight to help you figure this thing out!
