Why does Keystone Light taste like bananas?

Not every can… I’d say 1 in 100 tastes like bananas. Any reason?

Have you actually determined that 1% of the keystone beers have this defect? Perhaps it is a result of poor storage conditions.

In high levels this ester is a defect in beer. It is often produced by yeast in fermentations but with aging it is taking up again by the yeast and reduced. It is called amyl acetate (C7H14O2) OR CH3COOC5H11) it is derived from acetic acid.

*High levels of this may mean (high levels of acetic acid) an incomplete fermentation.

*Bacterial infection (acetic bacteria)

*Somewhat common in certain wheat beers and in lower concentration English Ales.

*Perhaps the foods you have consumed prior to the beer contributed to the flavor.
