How to convert Ethernet to serial?

Hi,
I have a small problem here…
I am making a robot and it has a ZyXEL Wireless router inside it. I made a PIC 16f628a circuit with a 9 pin serial connection. I want to some how connect it to my router with only Ethernet ports.
I know there are devices like iPocket 232 but as I’ve already spent a lot, Iwant to make the device or change myself.

If you’re not opposed to a little soldering (which I don’t think you are), you can always solder connecters to the ZyXEL router’s mainboard. Most routers have serial header pins or atleast tracings that would be compatible. This would provide you with serial access to the router. Most router firmwares don’t really use or support the serial connection, that’s why an open source linux-based firmware (like openwrt or dd-wrt) are probably best for your application.

I don’t know where your serial headers or jtag headers are for the router. They vary by model and manufacturer (for instance WRT610N has it in the WAN port opposite the ethernet connectors).
