It is genetics and personal. If obesity runs in your family and they also practice unhealthy eating habits then you would be more likely to also become obese. Lack of physical activity, unhealthy diet etc..

I have a young son who I know already has his fathers side of the family’s body type. Most of them do not eat very healthy. He is 5. I am instilling in him young to eat healthy and that exercise is important so when he enters his teen years he won’t gain a lot of weight like his own dad did from eating poorly.
