Different version of Amblyopia?

I had a type of “lazy eye” when I was a kid, but I always forget what it was called. It didn’t happen randomly, only when I concentrated on something would one of my eyes go cross-eyed, and the two options for treatment were either an operation consisting of removing the eye and I think fixing the optic nerve or glasses for something like 6 or 7 years. Not the eye patch treatment that I keep hearing about.

Is that still Amblyopia? or is it a different..’kind’?

surgery is usually not the best option in those cases, unless the crossing cannot be eliminated with max Rx. and there is no surgery “consisting of removing the eye and I think fixing the optic nerve”. strabismus surgery involves reattaching the extraocular musculature, not the optic nerve.

accommodative esotropia is one of the many CAUSES of “amblyopia” or reduced best-visual-acuity…but they are not the same thing
